Adapt to Glossaries

Ensure terminology consistency and brand alignment across your projects by applying custom glossaries to your translations.

Leveraging Glossaries allows you to enforce specific translations for technical jargon, brand names, or industry-specific terms. While Lara Translate uses advanced AI to understand context, this feature provides a layer of absolute control, ensuring that your predefined vocabulary is always respected.

Overview

When you enable glossary adaptation, Lara cross-references the source text with your active Glossary entries. If a match is found, the engine prioritizes your specific translation while still adapting the surrounding sentence structure to maintain grammatical correctness and natural flow.

Before you can adapt translations, you must first create and populate a glossary. See Manage Glossaries for instructions on how to set up your terms.

Glossary vs. Translation Memory

It is important to understand when to use Glossaries compared to Translation Memories (TM):

Important

When both a Glossary and a TM are provided, Glossary terms take precedence. This ensures that your most critical terminology remains locked, even if a similar sentence exists in the memory.

Best Practices

• Avoid Over-indexing: Only include terms that are truly unique to your domain. Common words are usually handled better by Lara's native context awareness.
• Case Sensitivity: Ensure your glossary entries match the casing you expect to find in your source code or content to improve matching accuracy.
• Provide Context: Even when using a glossary, providing a context string in your API call helps the AI understand how to inflect the glossary term correctly in the target language.
